On September 21–22, Baku hosted the Grand Prix Rapid & Blitz Tournaments, organized by the Chessbattle chess club.
More than 200 chess players participated in the competition, including International Masters and FIDE Masters. The average rating of players exceeded 1700.
The participants of the rapid tournament played 7 rounds with 10 minutes + 5 seconds time control according to the Swiss system. The winner was Murad Ibrahimli, who scored 6 points on additional scores. Second place was taken by Kanan Garayev. Khazar Babazada took third place. Each of the three winners are International Masters.
The participants of the blitz tournament played 9 rounds with 3 minutes + 2 seconds time control. Rawan Aliyev scored 8 points and took first place. Maharram Jafarov took second place with 7.5 points. Third place went to Hazar Babazada with 7 points.
