VAR and idChess broadcast were used for the first time in Women’s Grand Master Tournament in Serbia
The tournament is held for the 55th time and brings together strong female chess players from different countries. Video Assistant Referee and idChess broadcast were used for the first time in the competition.
The tournament started in the center of Belgrade on March 2 with players from different countries: Lu Miaoyi and Xu Yuanyuan from China, Sandra Djukic, Elif Mehmed, Vera Vujovic and Sofia Pogorelskikh from Serbia, Aleksandra Maltsevskaya and Anna Kubicka from Poland, Evgeniya Doluhanova from Ukraine, and Bhakti Kulkarni from India.
A total of 9 rounds were played with classical time control. idChess team participated in the tournament. On March 8, International Women’s Day, CEO of idChess Petr Chernyshev and organizer of the tournament Vladimir Sakotic congratulated the participants.
The last round and award ceremony were held on March 10. The winner of the tournament was Aleksandra Maltsevskaya (Poland). Her total score was 7.5, which is half a point more than her opponents.
Silver and bronze medalists were chosen by tie-breaking criteria. Elif Mehmed (Serbia) ranked second, and Lu Miaoyi (China) ranked third.
